Frequently Asked Questions by Parents:                               

1. What season is lacrosse played? Lacrosse is a spring sport which is played from March through mid June.

2. How are the teams divided? The teams are aged based.

U9 Bantams (typically grades 2nd & 3rd)

U11 Lightning (4th & 5th)

U13 Juniors (6th & 7th)

U15 Seniors (8th)

3. How does our family register? Amity Youth Lacrosse offers Online Registration

4. When does the AYL lacrosse season start? The season begins in March.  All registered players (2nd thru 8th grade) will be placed on a travel team based on his skill level.  Tryouts for this selection process will be indoors in mid March The Indoor schedule will be posted on the AYL website (www.amityyouthlacrosse.org). If the weather is good we generally get on the grass fields in late March.

5. Where do we practice and play home games? Practices and games are played at the Woodbridge, Pease Rd Fields.  Practices are twice a week in the evenings and games are Sat or Sun in April and can be both Sat & Sun in May and early June.

6.Where are away games? The away games and jamborees are played in different locations all over Connecticut: (Click "Directions" on the left side of the Welcome / Home page.)

7. How do parents stay informed about what's going on? The AYL website is the main form of communication with players, coaches and families. AYL Coaches and Team Managers also communicate AYL info to players and parents. All team game schedules can be found on the AYL website. Game and practice cancellations are communicated via emails.  When registering make sure you use a email address you can access on weekends.

8. What is U.S. Lacrosse? U.S.Lacrosse is the national governing body of men's and women's lacrosse. All players will become members of U.S. Lacrosse upon registering for the AYL programs and will receive Lacrosse Magazine. All AYL players and coaches will be insured by U.S.Lacrosse while participating in a Covered Activity (i.e. all AYL events, all U.S.Lacrosse events, all CONNY events, ...). 9. What are the major differences between Boys and Girls lacrosse? In Boys' lacrosse, body contact is allowed above 4th Grade and checking sticks are allowed. In Girls' lacrosse, no body contact allowed and modified stick checking at the 7th/8th grade level only.
