Raymond Heenie, Jr. was the beloved 13-year-old son of Marisol and the late Raymond Heenie and little brother to his older sister, Lauren.
In March of 2021, Ray suddenly passed away at his home due to SUDEP: Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy. Raymond was an 8th grade student at the Amity Middle School where he played hockey for Yale and lacrosse for Amity Youth Lacrosse.
All who knew Ray remember him as a kind friend and fantastic teammate. In honor of Ray, Amity Youth Lacrosse has introduced the annual ‘Play For Ray’ award.
The recipient of this award will be chosen each year by the 8th grade coaches. It will be a player who embodies the team, someone who always has a positive attitude, has the ability to lift the team, and someone who has shown utmost sportsmanship throughout the season.
In honor of this special recognition, a $250 donation will be made by Amity Youth Lacrosse to the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut in their name.
The deserving winners of the annual Amity Youth Lacrosse ‘Play For Ray’ Award:
2021 - Cameron Levy
2022 -Brendan Warner
